We’re excited you’ve scheduled your Hosted Visit in Tulsa and look forward to meeting you! This page provides more information on what you can expect during your visit. We encourage you to bookmark it, as it includes everything you need to know while you’re in Tulsa.

On this extended Hosted Visit, we will show you around the city, starting with a Welcome Party on Wednesday evening and ending with lunch on Friday, with many activities in between. TO DO BEFORE YOUR VISIT

WHERE TO STAY

Tulsa Remote provides free room blocks at the Fairfield Inn and Suites in downtown Tulsa. You are not required to stay at this hotel, but we will not reimburse you for lodging if you choose to stay elsewhere. Tulsa Remote covers the cost of your hotel on the Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of your visit. However, we do not book the hotel room for you. You will need to follow the instructions in the link below to book your hotel room.

SIGN THE VISIT TO TULSA RELEASE FORM

You must sign this form electronically to receive your travel reimbursement. If you are bringing a guest who wishes to be reimbursed, they will also need to sign this form. Please do this before your visit to Tulsa.

JOIN THE TULSA REMOTE WORKSPACE

Before visiting Tulsa, make sure you have joined the Tulsa Remote Slack. Slack will be our primary form of communication during the visit and is the quickest way to contact our staff while we’re out and about, showing everyone around! If you haven’t joined yet, log into your Member Experience Portal and find the link to join.

CHECKING IN

If you are staying at the Fairfield, your check-in time is 3:00 PM CST. However, you are welcome to drop your bags at the hotel earlier and explore until you have access to your room.

WELCOMG PARTY

Join us Wednesday night as we welcome you to Tulsa at one of our favorite spots. You’ll have the opportunity to meet other visiting finalists and connect with some of the Tulsa Remote staff and members. We’ll also review the plans for the weekend and answer any questions you might have.

Small bites and both alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks will be provided.

VISIT YOUR NEW COWORKING SPACE

Meet us at 36˚N on Thursday at 10:00 AM for pastries, coffee, and a tour of your new coworking space!

• Each Tulsa Remote member receives a free membership to 36°N for 36 months.
• During your visit, you have one day of free access to 36˚N. You must request the Tulsa Remote day pass at least 48 hours before visiting 36˚N. Click below to request a pass.
• You do not need to register for the tour of 36˚N; you only need to register for a day pass if you wish to work at 36˚N while you’re in town.
  
• You must purchase a pass from 36˚N for any additional days you wish to use the space during your visit.

TOUR OF TULSA

After touring 36°N, we’ll head out for a tour of Tulsa. On the tour, we’ll drive by:

• Guthrie Green
• The Woody Guthrie Center
• The Bob Dylan Center
  
• Historic neighborhoods such as Greenwood, the Deco District, and the Cathedral District
• And stop at The Gathering Place, our 66-acre Riverfront park, named USA Today’s Best City Park in 2021.

After the tour, we’ll drop you back off at 36˚N. This is a great time to explore Tulsa on your own!

  • As a program that aims to attract remote workers to Tulsa, it is important to acknowledge the city’s history and promote cultural awareness to newcomers. We encourage visitors to learn about the history of Black Wall Street and the Tulsa Race Massacre. This will not only educate individuals on the past but also allow them to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of the community they are joining.

DINNER AND Q&A

After spending some time exploring Tulsa on your own, we’ll meet up at Foolish Things Coffee. This coffee shop becomes a pop-up restaurant in the evening where the Et. Al. team will serve us a delicious dinner. They were recently named semifinalists for the 2023 James Beard Award for Best New Restaurant, and we can’t wait for you to experience it!

We will enjoy cocktails, mocktails, and wine before dinner as you ask our staff and Tulsa Remote alumni your questions about the city and the program.

COMMUNITY LUNCH AND RESOURCE FAIR

Day: Friday

Join us for lunch as we wrap up your visit! You’ll be able to connect with members of the Tulsa community, get to know some great organizations around town, and ask any of your last-minute questions to the Tulsa Remote onboarding team.

FIRST FRIDAY MIXER AND ART CRAWL

Day: Friday

Time: 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM CST

On the first Friday of every month, the Tulsa Arts District comes alive for the First Friday Art Crawl! The art galleries and museums are open late and free to enter, local art vendors line the street, and live music is playing throughout the area.

Atento Capital kicks off the art crawl with their First Friday Mixer, where Tulsa’s entrepreneurial community members gather for networking and community building.

While your visit officially ends at 11:30 AM, we’d love for you to join us for the mixer at Atento, then head outside to take in Tulsa’s thriving art scene!

REIMBURSEMENT

We are excited you are visiting Tulsa and want to reimburse you for the cost of your transportation (airfare or mileage) up to $500. We also offer an additional travel reimbursement of up to $500 for one guest per finalist.*

To be eligible for reimbursement, you and your guest must attend at least two of our Tulsa Remote-Hosted events throughout the week. See the list of eligible events below. Upon arrival at each event, you will check in with a Tulsa Remote staff member.

REIMBURSEMENT INFORMATION

• The purpose of the travel reimbursement is to help cover the cost of a visit to Tulsa to see if Tulsa is the right place for you. If you have already moved to Tulsa by the time of your visit, Tulsa Remote will not reimburse you for your travel expenses for moving to Tulsa.
• Tulsa Remote does not reimburse for airline points, lodging, Uber, Lyft, rental cars, baggage fees, upgrades, or any other expenses incurred during your time in Tulsa.
• When you signed up for a Hosted Visit, you let us know if you were flying or driving and shared your starting address. We will reimburse your transportation (airfare or driving mileage) up to $500 for yourself and up to $500 for one guest per finalist. Mileage reimbursement is based on the IRS rate, currently $0.65/mile. If your plans change or your mailing address differs from your address at the time of application, please email [email protected].

*The $500 travel reimbursement offer for a guest is valid for one guest per Tulsa Remote finalist. You must register your guest for the Hosted Visit by purchasing a ticket for them on Eventbrite. They will need to submit their own flight receipt. After filling out the steps below, the reimbursement will be sent directly to your guest via an email from Bill.com. Guests must be 18 or older to be eligible for reimbursement.

RECEIVING YOUR REIMBURSEMENT

We will process your reimbursement within the $500 limit once you complete the steps below.

1. Upload a screenshot or PDF of your flight receipt. Did you drive? Skip to step two.
2. Ensure you’ve checked in with a Tulsa Remote staff member at each event. You must attend at least two of our Tulsa Remote-Hosted events to be eligible for reimbursement.
3. Fill out the survey you will receive in your follow-up email.
   

After you’ve completed these steps, you will receive an email from Bill.com asking you to sign up to receive your reimbursement. You will have the option to accept your payment and have it deposited via ACH. If you have questions about this process, please email [email protected].
